So sorry to be one, but seriously…

So there has been tons of anticipation surrounding Olivier Theyskens’ collection for Theory, which according to Vogue was re-named “Theyskens’ Theory” just ’cause they loved it so damn much. The guy plays hard ball in the major leagues for sure (I think I just strung together a bunch of incoherent and unrelated and irritating catchphrases, getting none of my meaning across); he’s designed for Nina Ricci and Rochas in the past, and all his work has garnered major attention. He was just profiled in Vogue, presumably as a lead-up to big big sales of this big big line. Basically he’s a big big deal.

I can’t say I’m that impressed with this collection, though. I get the whole “basics with a twist” idea, I really do, and he is full on vibing with it. I also get that slouchy is in right now. But the fact that my favorite/the most striking piece was a basic black bra kind of says something. To me, slouchy veered off into sloppy and the whole thing sort of careened off road as a result. I’ll let you have a look at the bra though.

In other news, Vera Wang’s new, affordable (especially in the context of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress) bridal line for David’s Bridal is freaking gorgeous. Maybe I’m just really into tulle and ruffles and shit.
