twelve hours early: new year’s edition

It’s been a while, and I’m sorry…but I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and so I have a lot of exciting stuff to share 🙂 I’m at my grandparents’ house now, in Kerala, living a completely unrecognizable life. I wake up early, I sleep at 10 PM, I wear salwar kameez and toss on a bindi and haven’t eaten anything out of a box in weeks. (Except biscuits. Biscuits are always an exception). The walls are cement, there’s no air conditioning, and dust is one’s only constant companion in India but it’s so incredibly relaxing….this is a different world. It’s heavenly 🙂
Actually the tagline for Kerala tourism is “God’s Own Country”.
Proof of this celestial otherworldliness can be seen in the slideshow below, taken on the drive to/through Thekkady, a forest region about 7 hours drive north of us.
